Popular Festivals and Fairs
Mugueimes Carnival
The main character is Los Pastores, who wear their own clothing, originally from the village of Vilar de Cas. During the Carnival there is a parade of dancing groups and floats through the streets of the town, with a costume contest and a popular dinner afterwards.
“Tired donkey soup”
It is held in Mugueimes on the second weekend of August.
It has a craft fair, a lane walk, a donkey procession through the town and popular games on the football pitch.
Tasting of the tired donkey soup (made with bread, wine and sugar).
Feast of the “Galo Pica O Chan”.
Gastronomic celebration that is also celebrated the second weekend of August and that begins that gratuitous delivery of the roosters to the “breeders” of the city council in the first fortnight of May.
They will have a sign that will distinguish them from any other and they will have to be in an open space that allows them to “bite on the ground” to get the most natural feeding.
They can be helped with the kneading and vegetables of the traditional food of these animals.
A few days before the festival, the responsible committee visits the animals to see that they are raised in the required conditions. The breeders must deliver the animals slaughtered and cleaned, which are then cooked for a popular lunch in the afternoon-evening in which about 1,000 people participate.
Fairs
The fair is held every 1st and 4th of the month.
