Guntumil-Portela de Pitôes-Requias Route
Circular: No
Distance: 11 km.
Difficulty: Medium-high
This trail of about 11 km shows great interest despite its difficulty. Without realizing it, and continuing the old roads, so often frequented by smugglers and outlaws, we will penetrate Portugal. We start our journey in Guntumil, taking the road to Tourem, in the neighbouring Portuguese town of Montealegre, where we take the detour that will take us to the chapel of Santa Maria de Castro.
Returning to the path we can see megalithic remains in the area called Padin, continuing our march to the mountain refuge of Pisco. There we take the route that will take us to Portela de Pitôes (Montealegre-Portugal), where we can visit the remains of the Cistercian monastery of Pitôes de las Junias while we see the peaks of Fontefría. From the Portuguese village we start the descent until we reach the village of Requiás, already in Muiños.
