Church of Santa María do Pao
The church of Santa María do Pao is a large baroque construction with a single nave and a rectangular apse. The length of the ship and the great height and robustness of the tower divided into three bodies are striking. These large dimensions are curious in a region with a low concentration of inhabitants.
Next to the church is the rector’s house that according to tradition was the scene of the meeting of the King Ferdinand II of Galicia and Alfonso I of Portugal to discuss state issues such as the boundaries of the kingdoms. Of course, the current building has little or nothing to do with the construction where this meeting allegedly took place.
The old cemetery is located in the atrium and next to this we will see the new cemetery.
